With The Privacy and Big Data Institute at Ryerson University, we designed the Bootcamp to prepare you for real-world Big Data development challenges. Through hands-on exercises and project-based learning, students will learn and apply new development skills daily. We’re excited to offer this cohort to aspiring Hadoop developers – check out the details below.

Our curriculum includes the theory and technical knowledge you need to be a Big Data developer. To enhance each unit, our instructors draw on their industry experience and provide further insights. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, you will be prepared for success in the world of Big Data. For more information on the curriculum, read here.

What are the prerequisites? Students should know at least one object-oriented programming language (ex. Java, Python, C#, C++, Scala), have a background in SQL, and strong problem solving skills.
How much does it cost? The Bootcamp is $4000+HST but we do offer early bird pricing and group discounts. Details are under ‘About’.


When is the bootcamp? The next Bootcamp will be in early 2017.
Do I need to make a deposit? Yes, you’ll be notified when your application is accepted and a $500 deposit is required at that time. Full tuition is due one week before the Bootcamp starts.


What is the student to teacher ratio? Our ratio is 7:1 Each cohort has 20 students.
Is there special pricing for students? Yes. If you’re a post-secondary student or a recent graduate, the tuition is $2400+HST and spots are limited.


Do I bring my own laptop? Yes, you will use a combination of your laptop and Amazon Web Services for computing and developing applications.
What is the minimum number of people I need for a group pricing? You need a minimum of three people to qualify for it.


Will there be food and drink? Yes, we provide students with daily snacks and refreshments.

Are there any career services? Yes, we include a Careers Workshop in our Bootcamp. Some of the topics include what employers are looking for, resume tips, and interview questions
